TAKE A PLEDGE

Take A Pledge

Supriya Rao MD

The 11th annual National Woman's Checkup day is on May 13th, 2013.  It is a nationwide effort to encourage woman to call and visit health care professionals and schedule a health care checkup. Regular health care checkups are vital to prevention and early detection of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, mental health illness, sexually transmitted infection and other conditions.

The National Women's Health Week kicks off on Mother's Day, May 12th, 2013 and is celebrated until May 18, 2013.

You can take the pledge:

- I will schedule at least one preventative health care screening during May 2013.

- Discuss with my health care professional which screening tests are appropriate for for me, when should I have them, and how often.

Motivate any other woman you love in your life such as mother, sister, friend or a colleague to schedule a checkup.

Check out womanshealth.gov for more information and review 22 preventative services for woman that may be covered 100% by your insurance under the new Affordable Care Act.

You can also join "2013 WOMAN challenge" where you can enter your daily activity, set your nutritional goals and track progress.  It is a great way to get active, eat healthy and be recognized for your accomplishments!
